Hello Band and Chorus Students!
We hope you have been enjoying your summer! We’re looking forward to seeing you back in school this fall. As you may be aware, we will be divided into two different groups (aka Cohort A and Cohort B), each attending on two different days of the week, We want to assure you that music is still being offered to PRHS students. With the current CDC and Maine Department of Education school reopening guidelines, we needed to make some changes on HOW we teach our music ensembles.
For the foreseeable future, we will not be able to have our Chorus ensembles sing together, or have our Concert Band play brass and woodwind instruments together. Instead, we will be studying music in a variety of ways which include; listening, analysis, composition (writing and creating music), performing percussion and string instruments, using technology tools for music production, and recording and creating virtual performances of musical works. Singing and instrument playing will be part of our curriculum as we implement these into your remote learning experiences.
You should also know that we are running all BLUE days for the first semester, and that Concert Band will be offered during semester one only, with Chorus being offered during semester two only, as it is switching to Silver days. If you’re in Cohort A, you’ll attend school and Concert Band on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday will be a remote day for both cohorts. Cohort B will attend school and Concert Band on Thursday and Friday. For semester two, Chorus will do the same as Concert Band.
We fully intend to reinstate our Chorus and Concert Band rehearsals once the CDC, DOE and school administration have permitted us to do so. We want nothing better than to make music with all of you. In the meantime, we’re looking forward to offering you these enrichment opportunities. We have been working hard to get creative in the ways we can make this an exciting time of music-making for you, even if it looks and sounds different from what you are used to!
Please e-mail Mr. Williams at email@example.com or Mrs. Edwards at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
